As of May 2024, there were roughly 673 megawatts of geothermal power under construction in Asia. Additionally, almost 4.3 gigawatts were in the pre-construction stage and 1.5 gigawatts had been announced across the continent. Africa was the region with the second-highest prospective geothermal capacity, which reached some 2.9 gigawatts in May 2024.
