*The target group was private households in Japan, regardless of automobile ownership. In automobile-owning households, the main driver of the vehicle bought most recently had to respond. In the other ones, the person in the center of the household economy had to respond. Households were randomly selected in a two-step process, first determining 300 survey points reflecting regional population sizes, then conducting random walks from each point.
The survey collected answers from 1,876 men and 1,687 women.
This survey item targeted passenger car owners.

According to a survey conducted between August to October 2023 in Japan, ** percent of men and ** percent of women were willing to consider buying a hybrid electric vehicle for their next car purchase. The survey suggests that hybrid vehicles remain the most desired type of next-generation automobile among Japanese consumers. Women were in general slightly less intent on buying next-generation vehicles than men.
