*The target group was private households in Japan, regardless of automobile ownership. In automobile-owning households, the main driver of the vehicle bought most recently had to respond. In the other ones, the person in the center of the household economy had to respond. Households were randomly selected in a two-step process, first determining 300 survey points reflecting regional population sizes, then conducting random walks from each point.
This survey item targeted passenger car owners, including the answers "I want to consider the purchase" and "I want to consider the purchase somewhat".

According to a survey conducted between August and October 2023 in Japan, around ** percent of passenger car owners stated their intention to consider purchasing hybrid vehicles. Fuel cell vehicles were the least popular among next-generation vehicles and were considered by percent of respondents.
