In 2024, over 14.6 million cases of dengue were reported worldwide, the highest number of cases ever recorded in a 12-month period. In addition, there were more than 12,000 deaths from dengue that year. As of that time, the disease was endemic in over 100 countries, and it was estimated that close to 5.6 billion people were at risk of infection.
