Global low-carbon hydrogen production outlook by investment stage 2030
In 2022, worldwide hydrogen production using electrolysis amounted to *** million metric tons, compared with *** million metric tons generated using fossil fuels using CCUS (carbon capture, utilization, and storage). By 2030, low-hydrogen production could climb to *** million metric tons when taking into account all new projects announced by September 2023 and already in the FID stage. The NZE scenario would need low-carbon hydrogen production to reach **** million metric tons by 2050.
