In a survey conducted in Japan in October 2023, the majority of workers who had never done telework before said the nature of their tasks was a reason for not working remotely. Around ** percent of non-teleworkers said that their work required face-to-face contact and on-site visits, which made teleworking difficult. For those employees who had done telework before, the main reason was that their company did not allow it or instructed them to come to work.
