Although piped gas remains the primary means of importing natural gas in the European Union, LNG's share in total gas imports has increased significantly in recent years. In the third quarter of 2025, LNG accounted for ** percent of all gas imports. By comparison, Russia's share had notably decreased as imports through some pipelines, such as NordStream, were halted completely.
