The overall index score is given based on ranking of nine different criteria, which are weighted differently, in the 50 countries included. These are economic status (21%), political stability (15%), private participation (13%), infrastructure environment (10%), protectionism (10%), ease of doing business (10%), market size (9%), sustainability and innovation (6%), and tax environment (6%).

According to the 2023 Infrastructure Index, the United Kingdom, Sweden, and the United Arab Emirates had the best overall framework for sustainability and innovation of the ** countries ranked in the index, with a maximum possible index score. The index ranks the attractiveness in countries based on **** different criteria, including economic status, political stability, and private participation. Germany topped the index in 2023.
