France is expanding its wind energy sector and plans to install at least ** gigawatts worth of offshore wind farms by 2050. The North Sea and the North Atlantic Ocean will account for the largest offshore wind power capacity in the country.
As of October 2023, France's offshore wind power capacity amounted to roughly *** gigawatts in the wind plant of Saint-Nazaire. Another *** gigawatts were added to the country's offshore wind park in December of the same year, when Saint-Brieuc wind farm started operation in the Western Channel region.
