The total number of POS payment devices available in Colombia increased by roughly ** percent between 2021 and 2022. This meant that the acceleration seen in the previous period - 2020 to 2021 - slowed down significantly. Colombia hopes to push digital payments in a bid to combat its relatively high amount of unbanked population. The country aims to do this by following a similar strategy like Brazil did with Pix.
