The numbers provided are modelled using different sources. Cryptocurrency is not tracked centrally, making figures difficult to estimate. Figures up to 2023 resemble the global number of crypto users as estimated by Crypto.COM.Â
Forecasts for 2024 and 2025 were omitted, however. Those estimations were made in July 2024. Figures reported in several industry reports changed significantly since then. Additionally, cryptocurrency became very volatile since the summer of 2024, with nearly daily price fluctuations.

Annual number of crypto users in Colombia 2017-2023
The number of people who either used or held a cryptocurrency in Colombia was million higher at the end of 2023 than in 2022. This is according to ÌÇÐÄÆƽâ°æ estimates, compiled from various reports and research. The numbers were first trialled in ÌÇÐÄÆƽâ°æ's Crypto pulse check, a quarterly report aimed at mapping out the size and characteristics of crypto markets in 50 different countries worldwide in a cross-comparable way. The anonymity behind cryptocurrencies – a key feature in their design – makes it difficult to find reliable data on a country-level. Consequently, data research on how many people worldwide use this new form of money is in its infancy. The numbers shown here should therefore be regarded as estimates.
