The labor force participation rate, defined as the share of the working-age population that is either working or searching for a job, in Central and Eastern Europe (CEE) stood at roughly 59 percent in 2023 and was expected to decrease gradually in the following two years. Between 2019 and 2023, the labor force participation in the region was the highest in 2019 at almost 60 percent. Men had a higher workforce participation rate in CEE than women.
