From 2003 to 2023, the annual revenue generated by the export of French movies increased considerably. Compared to the first decade of the new millennium, the French movie industry managed to increase its export revenue during the , while even reaching peaks of over *** million euros in 2012, 2015 and 2017. Whereas they had already been in decline two years prior to the Covid-19 pandemic, the revenues coming from French movie exports took a blow in 2022, as they reached a new low of just over ** million euros. Since then, numbers have been recovering slightly, reaching million euros in 2023.
