A 2022 survey revealed that just about half of women in the U.S. had knowledge about symptoms and treatment of uterine fibroids, which in reverse means half of women were lacking such knowledge. If one in two women were unaware that a hysterectomy was not the sole treatment option for uterine fibroids, then they are also less likely to seek treatment. Moreover, one in two women also falsely believed uterine fibroids are a form of cancer. Instead, uterine fibroids are non-cancerous growths in and around the uterus.
