News audiences in the United States have, overall, reduced their engagement with news since 2016. In that year, ** percent of adults said that they followed the news all or most of the time, a figure which by 2022 had dropped to ** percent. In the same time period, the percentage of adults who said they hardly ever followed the news almost doubled.
