On October 25, 2023 Louisiana Representative Mike Johnson was elected as the 56th speaker of the U.S. House of Representatives. According to a survey conducted at the end of the month, 70 percent of Democrats stated that they preferred to have a speaker who voted to certify Biden's win in the 2020 election, compared to only 11 percent of Republicans.
