Questionnaires were distributed in person and, in exceptional cases, mailed to absent households. Completed questionnaires were collected in person or submitted by mail or via the online survey system of the government.

Care for children when wife is nursing/caregiving: n=2,132

Major support providers for child care in Japan 2022
According to a survey conducted in July 2022 in Japan, public institutions were the main providers of child care for married women when they went to work. Around ** percent of married women reported asking public institutions such as nursery schools to provide child care support when they went to work, while over ** percent asked their parents for help.
