Respondents were asked to select between "totally agree", "rather agree", "rather disagree", or "totally disagree"
Questionnaires were distributed in person and, in exceptional cases, mailed to absent households. Completed questionnaires were collected in person or submitted by mail or via the online survey system of the government.

In a survey conducted among married women in Japan in July 2022, around ** percent agreed that husbands should equally contribute to household chores and child rearing. Around ** percent agreed with the statement that the family should be responsible for the care of elderly parents.
