In 2019, HBO Max was Hungary's leading video streaming service provider. However, Netflix has been rapidly expanding its user share in the country over the past years, and it became the number-one provider in 2020. As of 2022, Netflix has reached approximately one-third of Hungarian households. However, its popularity fell back a little in 2023.
