To achieve the decarbonization goal, electricity consumption in the European Union is forecast to increase in the coming years. According to the Fit for 55 (FF55) scenario, the total electricity demand of the EU will reach almost *** petawatt-hours by 2030 and *** petawatt-hours by 2050. Both the REPowerEU-inspired and Radical Action-inspired estimates foresee an electricity demand of terawatt-hours in the EU by 2030.
