The average age of the respondents was 36.0 years. 66.6 percent of all respondents lived in urban areas. 47 percent of all respondents were residents in the eastern region, while residents from the central, western, and northeastern regions accounted for 24.4 percent, 23.9 percent, and 4.7 percent respectively.

A survey conducted in 2022 concluded that almost a quarter of Chinese individuals outside of relationships were at higher risk of developing depression. In comparison, less than *** percent of married people, and less than ** percent of people who were divorced were susceptible to the condition.
