The 2021 YRBS sampling frame consisted of all regular public schools (including charter schools), parochial schools, and other private schools with students in at least one of grades 9–12 in the 50 U.S. states and the District of Columbia.

Around 15 percent of high school students reported that they were bullied while at school in 2021. When broken down by sexual identity, the prevalence was highest among those who indicated their sexual identity as other, at nearly 30 percent. Rates were also high among LGB students.
