The world's ** leading oil and gas producers currently extract oil and gas from more than fields worldwide, while a further *** are planned in the immediate future. Projections show that if all the reserves from these fields is burned it would emit *** billion metric tons of carbon dioxide (GtCOâ‚‚). This would account for around ** percent of the world's entire remaining carbon budget to limit global warming to *** degrees Celsius above pre-industrial levels, which as of November 2022 stood at an estimated *** GtCOâ‚‚. The projected emissions from Saudi Aramco's remaining oil and gas reserves is ** GtCOâ‚‚ - roughly six times more than China's COâ‚‚ emissions in 2021.
