According to a survey conducted among South Korean department store visitors in , close to ** percent of respondents with an average monthly household income between *** and *** million South Korean won stated while they bought groceries in department stores, it was not their main channel for grocery shopping. Those in the low-income bracket with incomes of *** million won or less were the most likely to use department stores as their main grocery shopping channel at a respondent share of **** percent. However, they were also the most likely to never buy groceries at department stores with **** percent of respondents from this income group answering this way.
