The share of LGBTI respondents in the European Union who indicated that they had experienced a gender or sexuality based assault in the previous five years was highest for intersex and transgender people and lowest for bisexual and lesbian women in 2019. On average, 11 percent of LGBTI respondents indicated they have been the victim of a homophobic, transphobic, or otherwise gender based attack, while for intersex people the share was double, at 22 percent.
