Based on data from January 2017 to March 2020, it was estimated that around 38 percent of adults in the United States had prediabetes. Among those aged 65 years and older almost 50 percent were estimated to have prediabetes. Those with prediabetes have blood sugar levels higher than normal, but not high enough to yet be diagnosed with diabetes.
