This was a significant decrease compared to million metric tons making their way through the canal in March 2023. Between November 2023 and February 2024, the payload passing through the Suez Canal dropped significantly by around ** percent, as a result of the conflict in Gaza, with Ansar Allah (also known as the Houthis) in Yemen attempting to stop the ships heading to Israeli ports.Â
