In 2021/2022, public investment in the storage and transportation industry aggregated around billion Egyptian pounds (**** billion U.S. dollars). This represented an increase from close to billion Egyptian pounds (**** billion U.S. dollars) in the year before. Furthermore, public investment in the sector increased significantly in 2017/2018 from almost billion (**** billion U.S. dollars) to billion Egyptian pounds (**** billion U.S. dollars).
It is worth noting that the Egyptian currency faced devaluation in late 2016, moving the exchange rate from almost nine Egyptian pounds per U.S. dollar to ** per U.S. dollar. In 2022, the Egyptian pound dropped in value again several times before settling at nearly **** per U.S. dollar as of late May 2023.
