The ESG investment survey was distributed by SynTao Green Finance and China SIF to both Chinese and offshore asset owners in September 2022. The survey garnered 51 valid responses, with 30 coming from Chinese institutions and 21 from offshore institutions. The percentages of these responses were 58.8% and 41.2%, respectively. Of the offshore respondents, 17 invested less than 20% of their assets under management (AUM) in China, while 4 invested between 20% and 39%.

Leading difficulties in conducting responsible investment in China 2022
Among asset managers in China, ** percent stated they encountered difficulties finding ESG-related information when conducting responsible investments. This issue was even more pressing for offshore investors in China, ** percent of them said it was difficult. According to the report, asset managers in China were very concerned about sustainable investments and were even prepared to take losses on responsible investments, but only as long as they are in an acceptable scope.
