It represents 50 percent of the total research and development spending in Saudi Arabia in 2021. This was followed by the research and development spending by the private sector at around five billion Saudi Riyals. Lastly came the research and development spending on education at approximately two billion Saudi Riyals. Total research and development expenditure in Saudi Arabia in 2021 reached 14.5 billion Saudi Riyals.
