March Madness is a single elimination contest for college basketball teams. The tournament takes place each spring and is one of the most popular sporting events in the United States. According to forecasts, Houston went into the tournament as favorites, with a 22 percent chance of lifting the trophy. Last year's winners Kansas had a five percent chance of winning the tournament according to the estimates.
