SMUR stands for "Service Mobile d'Urgence et Réanimation" which translates as Mobile Emergency and Resuscitation Services.
*Data for 207 and 2018 does not differentiate between transfers under specialized medical supervision and nurse supervision.
**A "primary" dispatch refers to specialized medical care provided to one or more patients not admitted to any health facility and whose condition requires urgent medical attention and medical expertise for emergency care or resuscitation and their orientation.
***A "Transfer" refers to specialized medical care provided to a hospitalized patient or taken care of by a service (emergency or not) within a health establishment. Transfers aim to provide, if necessary, additional resuscitation care and transfer to a service or a technical platform adapted to the patient's condition. This mission concerns only one patient.
****An "Inter-Hospital Nursing Transfer" (TiiH) refers to patients transported between two healthcare establishments, not requiring medical care (Smur) but within the competence of a nurse. They concern all transfers interhospital, including pediatric activity, in-utero, or psychiatric transfers. The Samu coordinates these transfers through inter-hospital services.
