Czechia has one of the most successful economies of the 10 post-communist states which have joined the European Union since 2004. Czechia particularly excels in areas high-tech manufacturing and electronics, as well as services. Despite having a strong welfare system and operating under a European social model in their economy, Czechia has experienced a trend of de-unionization over the past decades, with union membership now standing at around only 10 percent of all employees, while collective bargaining coverage remains relatively stable at over a third of the workforce.
