Regional wine trade dynamics

While Australia and New Zealand are major exporters, Japan stands out as a significant wine importer in the region, bringing in nearly *** billion U.S. dollars’ worth of wine. China followed with imports exceeding *** billion U.S. dollars. These figures reflect a growing appetite for wine, fueled by shifting consumer preferences and a rising interest in wine culture, creating opportunities for exporters within and outside the region. 

Beyond the vineyard

The alcoholic beverage trade in APAC extends far beyond wine. China plays a dual role in the beer market, ranking at the top for beer importsÌý²¹²Ô»å beer exports in the region. This highlights its position as both a major producer and consumer.

Next to beer and wine, the region is also known for its diverse range of rice-based alcoholic drinks. From Japan's refined sake to China's traditional Huangjiu and Rượu nếp in Vietnam, these beverages reflect both the agricultural roots and cultural heritage of their respective countries. Together, the diversity in production and consumption reflects the dynamic nature of the alcoholic beverage landscape in APAC.
