The top 30 companies were responsible for an estimated ** million metric tons of methane emissions in 2021, or roughly *** billion metric tons of carbon dioxide equivalent when converted into COâ‚‚e using 20-year Global Warming Potential factor. This accounted for almost half the global energy sector's total methane emissions.
