The 2022 study was conducted in the 27 EU member states and follows on from earlier editions of the Intellectual Property and Youth Score, published in 2016 and 2019. The study is based on a survey questionnaire.

Movie piracy among young internet users in EU 2022
Accessing movies illegally online is one of the most common ways that young people in the EU access movies. Only 35 percent of those asked in an EU-wide survey said that they only or mainly watch movies through legal sources. More than half of those asked said that they use some kind of legal source to access cinematic releases online. 22 percent said that they only or mainly use illegal sources, while 39 percent indicated that they access films through a mixture of sources.
