This indicator refers to the proportion of youth who are neither in employment nor in education or training. For statistical purposes, youth are defined as persons between the ages of 15 and 24 years. The series is part of the ILO modelled estimates and is harmonized to account for differences in national data and scope of coverage, collection and tabulation methodologies, as well as for other country-specific factors."

The proportion of 15-to-24 years old women neither in employment nor education or training (NEET) in Mexico is remarkably higher than that of men. Nevertheless, the gap has been closing throughout the last years. In 2025, the youth NEET rate among young Mexican females was 23.83 percent, while 9.34 percent of their male counterparts were in the same situation.
