As of April 2022, about ** percent of platform workers newly enrolled in South Korea's employment insurance system were between 40 and 49 years old. Most of them were male workers. Since 2020, the South Korean government has extended the employment insurance scheme to artists and special types of workers, and since 2022, other platform workers, such as delivery drivers and designated drivers, have also been able to join the employment insurance system.
