The importance of environmental, social, and governance (ESG) sustainability is expected to increase significantly according to the results of a March 2022 survey among real estate investment professionals worldwide. Almost half of the respondents agreed that ESG criteria are somewhat important currently and asked about the next three to five years, more than ** percent expected ESG to gain even more importance. Energy and waste management, as well as green buildings certification were among the most significant ESG criteria according to respondents, while coming up with a climate change strategy was expected to gain most importance in the next three to five years.
