As of July 2022, Germans aged 65 years and older were the most willing to save hot water due to the energy shortage. Among young Germans aged between 18 and 29 years, only ** percent stated that they were absolutely or mostly willing to use less hot water. Due to the war in Ukraine and the attempt to reduce Russian energy imports, energy prices in Germany have been rising for months. At the same time, there are uncertainties as to whether Russia will fulfill the contractually guaranteed gas deliveries via the Nord Stream * pipeline.
