In January 2022, Microsoft announced their planned acquisition of gaming company Activision Blizzard. A survey among gamers in the United States found that the inclusion certain Activision Blizzard gaming franchises were likely to make them subscribe to Xbox Game Pass. As of that month, 46 percent of responding PlayStation gamers in the United States were interested in subscribing to Xbox Game pass for Activision Blizzard games. Only 27 percent of smartphone gamers were interested in subscribing, indicating different preferences between console and smartphone gamers.
