As of June 2022, 57 percent of Democrats strongly approved of the January 6th Committee, compared with only nine percent of Republicans. 37 percent of Republicans strongly disapprove of the committee.
The U.S. House Select Committee to Investigate the January 6th Attack on the United States Capitol was formed to investigate an attack on the U.S. Capitol on January 6, 2021. These events are now commonly referred to as the Capitol attack or Capitol insurrection, during which supporters of President Donald Trump sought to overturn the results of the 2020 presidential election. The Committee consists of seven Democratic and two Republican members of the House of Representatives.
