Since 2014, the Taiwanese semiconductor company TSMC was able to reduce the intensity of its scope 1 and scope 2 greenhouse gas emissions. However, the absolute emission volume of Scope 3 greenhouse gasses has increased over the observed period from *** million metric tons in 2014 to over million metric tons in 2023. Scope 3 emissions refer to indirect emissions from upstream and downstream value chains.
