Over the course of 2022, the Russian company Gazprom exported nearly *** billion cubic meters of natural gas to the far abroad, down **** percent from the same period of the previous year. A decline was related to the Russian invasion of Ukraine, in response to which several European countries announced plans to reduce dependence on Russian gas. Furthermore, the Russian government demanded payments for gas in Russian rubles at the end of March 2022.
