FY 1998 to 2018
The unit of the count is the individual, federally sentenced prisoner. Includes persons sentenced in U.S. district courts and in the custody of the Federal Bureau of Prisons (BOP) as of September 30, 2018. Excluded persons sentenced to the BOP by the D.C. Superior Court, military prisoners transferred to BOP facilities to serve their sentence, U.S. citizen-prisoners transferred to the U.S. from another country to serve their sentence closer to home, and persons convicted of a state offense but serving time in a federal prison for their security needs.
"Other" includes violent, property, weapons, and public-order offences.
