Home care professionals distribution in Italy 2021, by employment type
Many families in Italy resort to professional help for performing certain tasks at home. According to a survey carried out among a sample of these families, the type of contract offered to these workers depend mainly on the type of care they are going to provide. Families were most likely to employ babysitters and housekeepers as hourly workers. On the other hand, as much as 67 percent of families who needed care for their elderly or disabled members hired caregivers who would cohabit with them, the vast majority of whom was foreign.
