The King, Queen and Princess Beatrix do not pay tax on the compensation they receive. This is enshrined in the constitution. The king will receive 1 million euros in income in 2021, plus 5.1 million euros for private staff and expenses. The state will therefore pay more than 200,000 euros more to the king in 2021 than in 2020. The compensation of the members of the Royal House is laid down in the constitution and follows the salary increases of the civil servants and the vice-chairman of the Council of State.
