With a credit sales transaction value of about **** trillion Japanese yen, general retail stores were the leading sales channel in the Japanese credit card industry in 2024, replacing department stores for the third consecutive time. The transaction value in department stores amounted to around **** trillion yen. The highest growth could be observed for hospitals and clinics, with credit card transactions increasing by **** percent.
