*The 2019–22 figures were calculated as imports minus exports plus or minus adjustments for Government and industry stock changes for refined cobalt. From 2023 onwards, the Government stock changes were not included.
This statistic has been assembled using several editions of the report.
In 2025, approximately 79 percent of the cobalt used in the United States was imported from other countries, which was an increase compared to previous years. The import volume of cobalt in the U.S. in 2025 stood at 14,000 metric tons.
