The Central Election Commission of Belarus reported that 82 percent of voters supported constitutional amendments in the country in February 2022. The changes to the Constitution, which were suggested by the President Alexander Lukashenko, included removing from the document that Belarus was a neutral and a non-nuclear state. Furthermore, presidential terms would be limited to two consecutive periods; however, the terms of the current president would be reset. The referendum took place on February 27, 2022. The voter turnout was reported at nearly 79 percent.
